Anne and Sarah Kennedy, the sister design duo behind Buckley K, a line of ultra-wearable dresses and tops, get most of their inspiration from their global upbringing and continued travels to the farthest corners of the world. Their off-the-shoulder dresses and tops are easy, on-trend and perfect for packing for an island or beach getaway. We can’t help but love that they named their line after the family dog (a rescue, no less!) and that their simple designs (all contenders for your next favorite coverup or night-out go-to) are cut from the highest-quality cottons and embellishments are hand-done by skilled artisans. You can buy their pieces at over 300 boutiques worldwide or on their website, www.buckleyk.com.
We talked to Anne about the sisters’ favorite skincare products and cosmetics for our next installment in Medicine Cabinet Confidential.
Less is more. Fewer products out of better ingredients. We like to find products that work and stick with them.
In the evening we use coconut oil to remove eye makeup. I’m using currently Trader’ Joe’s but any brand will work. After that I use Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser, La Mer Moisturizing Cream, and Indie Lee Calendula Eye Balm. In the morning its pretty much the same routine with a lighter moisturizer. I like Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturizer.
Both of us have a mix of cosmetics that we love. Sarah loves Glossier Boy Brow , Benefit Powder, and Nars’s Vera lipstick. My favorite mascara is Chanel Le Volume Mascara and we both adore the perfect beachy bronze colors in Get Gilded from Laura Geller. For lips, it’s Beach Bum, a coconut lip balm and for hair, I’m a fan of ocean or salt-water mists like the one from Sachajuan that give you a low-maintenance look. Even in the dead of winter in NYC, this is my go-to.
Not foods, but beverages, yes. Sarah drinks lemon water first thing in a.m. and I do green tea daily – that seems to make me feel more radiant especially in the middle of a busy day.
This is always a work in progress! Whenever we are eating clean we find our skin has a better look and feel. Dairy and sugar seem to be skin irritants for both of us..(we also happen to love both). Drinking a lot of water is always key….for a little motivation we both bought BKR large bottles and try to refill them 6-8 times a day.
Sarah and I are pretty similar when it comes to skincare and health. I have a toddler that I’m usually chasing so I’m not as diligent about getting to yoga and the gym and I usually don’t spend a lot of time on my hair. Otherwise we have similar routines. We recommend products to each other all the time and we spend a lot of time traveling together for the business so we’ll sample whatever the other one is loving.
